Seats and Mounting Kits
Have you been trying to find that perfect combination for a nice seat on your new Chop or Bobber? Well, if you like to RIDE more than you like to “profile”, this kit will put a seat on your bike that will let you burn up the miles.
This kit has everything you need, including a West Eagle Hi-Back Thin Solo saddle with a naugahyde skin sewn over a padded 12 ga. steel seat pan, a Stainless Steel Fabricator Kevin Seat Hinge, (2) 3″ seat springs, a pair of Fab Kevin Spring Bungs (that are already fish-mouthed to allow easy mounting to your frame), and a pair of leather washers for the springs to rest on and eliminate scratched paint and squeaking. Everything you need to get your bike on the road, without worry of part failure in the middle of nowhere. I chose to use this seat because of it’s high quality, and the fact that it is built on the heaviest weight pan in the Industry. The rest of the kit is made by me – to last forever. Why would you install a lesser combination on your ‘sickle that you KNOW will fail?

This seat hinge is the last one you will ever need to buy. No more replacing cracked and broken sprung seat hinges in the middle of riding season.
These are laser cut from 3/16″ stainless steel, and can be fully polished to look better than chrome. They pivot on bronze bearings, for a squeak and rattle free ride – for life! They are 100 percent tig welded, and have a hole pattern to fit most solo sprung saddles. It has all of the features of my old steel kit, but in stainless steel.
These seat spring bungs are fishmouthed to fit on standard 1″ diameter tubing frames. They can EASILY be filed to fit up to 1 1/4″ tube frames too. The center shaft is 3/8″ in diameter, and they are supplied with leather washers to keep the springs from squeaking and eating up the paint. Shafts can be drilled to accept pins to hold the springs if you desire.
Here is the perfect companion to the Bolt-on Seat Hinge: Bolt-on Seat Spring Mounts! If you are not able to weld seat spring mounting bungs to your frame, this kit will allow you to enjoy the comfort of a sprung seat on your Hardtail. Simply drill (2) 5/16″ diameter holes in the cross-tube that joins the rear fork legs, and bolt on these mounts. The top mount is fishmouthed for 1″ diameter tubing, and threaded in the bottom. The bottom mount is also fishmouthed and counterbored for a 5/16″ Allen Bolt to pass through it, through the tubing, and into the top bung – clamping it all securely together. Leather “cushion” washers are also provided to keep the springs quiet.
Add 10.00 if you need them to fit other sized tubing, and be sure to specify the size in the form to the left.
Now you can have the best Seat Hinge in the business, without having to weld it to your frame. This new seat mount is identical to our Original Stainless Steel Seat Hinge, but the pivot mount bolts into your frame. The bolt-in mount is available in (2) styles: one is perfectly flat, and the other is formed to fit a variety of aftermarket frames that have a break down the middle of the backbone.

In answer to those who want to hide the seat hinge under the nose of the seat, I offer this new version of my bullet-proof seat hinge.
It bolts to most aftermarket solo seats, and features the same bronze bearing construction, with a “flat” top so it can hide beneath the seat.

This seat kit is designed for the builder who wants a custom made seat. The pan is laser cut from 10 ga. steel, formed, and receives a built-in nose hinge assembly that utilizes my bearinged pivot tube. The hinge plates are stainless steel, so the pan can be powdercoated and the hinge polished. The spring mounts are welded onto the pan, and are threaded to allow the springs to be affixed. Pan size is 13″ long by 10 1/2″ wide.
This is the same pan assembly that is used on my Muskrat bike. I built that bike to travel long distances, and this seat is built to handle a lot of miles in comfort. Pics of seat on bike can be seen at: http://www.fabkevin.com/projects/muskrat/index.htm
The kit includes a raw seat pan/hinge assembly, a set of weld-on spring bungs, and a set of 3″ seat springs.
This new hinge mount will allow you to mount to the 1 1/2″ diameter backbone tubing on your frame. It is curved for a perfect fit, and easy installation. Shown with a standard seat hinge, but it is also available with the invisible hinge too.
This seat kit has a pan with the same strength and dimensions as my Muskrat seat pan, but the nose area is flat and allows for a lower look. The rear of the pan is also rolled up a little higher. The seat pan has a reinforced nose area and threaded bungs to mount the springs, but it uses one of my removable seat hinges (your choice of standard or invisible style).
